Whitchurch Alport Ladies 3 Ludlow Ladies 0

The old saying in football is never change a winning side, but the management team made 3 player changes and  a number of positional changes for the game against Ludlow.Alport charged forward straight from the first whistle, playing good football and creating a number of clean cut chances which where missed due to the Ludlow keeper playing well and poor finishing. As the half went  on it like Ludlow had weathered the storm until Kerry Walker opened the scoring, after a good move down the right. The second half was very much the same as the first with Alport pressing for more goal's, knowing that the back line was in no mood to let Ludlow back in it. With Sarah Field and Kerry Walker causing major problems for the Ludlow defence, it was no surprise when Sarah Field got her first of the season , stroking the ball in at  the near post to make it two nil. Kerry Walker completed the scoring with her second of the match, breaking clear of the Ludlow back four and easliy beating the advancing keeper after good passing between Laura Pountney and Stephie Gratton.Ludlow never stopped to there credit and had the better of the last fifiteen minutes, but the  back line  took the pressure , dealing with any  balls into the box. Nick Field and Emily Dicken put in solid performances, with Captain Hannah Thomas and Louise Wainwright never putting a foot wrong. Daniella Soler kept her third clean sheet in a row dealing with any shoot on target.

Whitchurch v Ludlow

After fielding a squad of 14 last week at home to shewsbury, it was dissapointing for us to just scrape 11 for the trip to whitchurchthis this is something we need to address. However the 11players that did turn outgave a robust display against the unbeaten league leaders.Under pressure for most of the first half we went inat half time 1-0 down , their no 10 breaking the back line and slotting home ,it could of been worse after a hotly disputed penalty was awarded to the home side, but justice was done when the ball blasted its way over the bar.The second half started badly for us giving away a sloppy goal whith in a minute and whitchurch soon added the 3rd,we certainly competed better in the second half, but whitchurch were to strong for us on the day.
