TGLFC V SHREWSBURY RESERVES
14TH OCTOBER 2007
TGLFC raced into a 5 goal lead by half time at home to ten 'man' Shrewsbury Town. Niki Walker opened her account for the season with a fine free kick from 23 yards out that gave the keeper no chance. Lou Smart then got the second, and her eighth of the season. The home side then scored twice in two minutes courtesy of Leanne Moss and Jade Hill, Hill scored again ten minutes later, this goal a scorcher of a 20 yard shot on the half volley.
After the break Hill got her hat trick after side stepping the defence to make it 6. Smart followed that with her second of the game with a low hard drive past the keeper to make it 7. Anna Sorbom then got in on the action when she floated past the defence in her inimitable style to wrong foot the keeper and place the ball into the net for the eighth. Shrewsbury had their best chance of the game halfway through the second half, getting past Nikki Mason in the TGLFC goal before the keeper turned and caught the ball at the second attempt. Hill grabbed the headlines a few minutes later when she grabbed her 4th of the game. Leanne Moss made it two for the game in the closing stages, but there was still time for rising star Ami Crump to make her mark on the game. The youngster came off the bench with 15 minutes to go, and in a repeat of her last appearance she marked her presence with a fine goal, bringing the final score to 11-0.
A last mention must go to Elaine Boden who replaced Mason in goal for the final twenty minutes of the game, just when it looked that Shrewsbury would get a consolation goal she pulled off a fine reflex save with her legs to deflect the ball away from danger.
