SHREWSBURY RES. V TGLFC
LEAGUE GAME - 2 DEC 07

Shrewsbury got off to a bright start and did well to keep TGLFC at bay for the opening minutes of the game, but it didn't take long for Chick to break through with an angled shot from the left to score a goal that she made look easy. For the number 17 it was just the start of a great performance that at the final whistle won her the player of the match award.
Goal no.2 came courtesy of Anna who ran through to bury the ball in the bottom corner. The goals then came thick and fast as Jade set up Lou to grab No.3, followed by Anna at her confident best striding through the defence for her 2nd of the game. Lou climbed highest from a corner to nod home goal no.5, and Jade was next up for her 1st of the match.  Lou was provider as she swung in a free kick. Deb Bradley in the Shrews goal caught but spilled the ball and Jade was quickest to react stabbing the rebound in.
Tommo showed strength and courage to slide in on goal for no.7, robbing the defence and slipping the ball past the keeper. Leanne provided the next goal for Jade who almost casually flicked the ball into the back of the net. 0-8.
The visitors had several chances to go further ahead but were stopped by some good defending by the Shrews Chantelle.  Leanne was unlucky to see a shot go wide with the goal gaping. Bradley made a point blank block in goal before TGLFC teased open the defence again and scored a peach of a goal. Lou stroked the ball powerfully home after a fantastic move involving Anna and jade.
HT 0-9
The second half saw a more confident Shrewsbury take to the field but it was TGLFC who extended their lead when Chick's through ball was latched onto by jade to score her hat trick. Chick then had a free kick dip just over the bar. No. 11 came through a crowd and Tommo got the last touch for her 2nd of the game.
Jade got no.12 with a super solo effort, she ran down the wing, skipped 3 challenges before rolling the ball into the back of the net. Lou then scored 3 goals in quick succession. No.13 saw her use her strength to hold off the defensive challenges to find the net, and number 14 a minute later saw her score easily. For no.15 she won a tight decision when she fired towards goal only for the defender to catch the ball, the referee awarded the goal as the shot had gone over the line before being handled.
The last 2 goals belonged to Jade, with a little help from her friends. The quite brilliant Chick set our No.11 free to dance around several challenges and pick her spot beyond the keeper to side foot her shot into. The final TGLFC goal of the game saw the winger impress with a cool and calm strike.
Two more players grabbed a mention in the closing stages of the game. Elaine Boden came on as sub keeper and pulled off two brilliant saves, before Amanda Crump for Shrewsbury, the leader of a late fight back, got one back for the home side.
