LUDLOW V TGLFC -9TH SEPTEMBER 2007
TGLFC took to the field in confident style and controlled most of the opening play, but in a repeat of last week it was the opposition who scored first, Gemma Didlick latching onto a poor TGLFC throw in to give her side the advantage. 1-0. The visitors almost had an instant reply when Lou Smart sent a glancing header just wide. It didn't take long for Vicky Coleman to beat the offside trap and level the scores, slotting the ball confidently past the keeper. 1-1. Jade Hill began to terrorize the Ludlow defence and was unlucky when she slid in on goal for the keeper to make a good save and take the ball off her toe. It was taste of what was to come, as the winger made no mistake a few minutes later, slipping the defence to place the ball over the keeper. 1-2. Ludlow's keeper kept them in it up until the break, saving a stinging shot from Anna Sorbom and then blocking what looked like a certain Coleman goal with her legs. An injury to Jessica Dixon and a change of keeper may have changed the complexion of the game in the second half, or it may have been TGLFC's half time rollicking that did it, but there was certainly a change. Niki Walker had to be on her toes to keep out Ludlow straight after the game resumed, but after that it was all the visitors as Sorbom and then Nikki Mason put shots over the bar in the opening minutes. It was once again the diminutive winger Hill who broke through to score her second of the game, she ran onto a through ball from Sarah Henn to hit a low ball across goal and into the net. 1-3. Virtually from the re-start Henn made a superb solo run through the defence to make it 1-4, celebrating with a strange dying fly like display! Again straight from the re-start substitute Leanne Moss, making her debut, scored a perfect poachers goal to make it 1-5. Sorbom thought she had another a few minutes later but the ball crashed back out from under the bar, no. 6 wasn't long coming though as Moss cut in from the wing to score her second in five minutes. 1-6. Hill got her well deserved hat trick not long after, receiving a well timed pass from Claire Riestkins to send another low drive beyond the keeper. 1-7. Sorbom scored the 8th goal of the game from a seemingly impossible angle 1-8. Coleman then sealed her brace with another confident strike. 1-9. Ludlow still looked capable of creating another consolation goal until injuries left them down to nine players for the last five minutes of the game; it was left to Moss then to wrap up the points, scoring no.10 and her hat trick in the process.
