LUDLOW V TGLFC - 28TH OCTOBER 2007

A strangely subdued TGLFC took to the field today, but still began the game with the better chances, Stacey Aitken making a bright run through the defence but having no support at the crucial moment. Lou Smart saw a shot crowded out just after then TGLFC won a corner and Nikki Walker swung in a perfectly weighted ball for Smart to head home and give the visitors the lead. 0-1. Ludlow went close to equalizing with a shot that went across the mouth of the goal and out. Ludlow's keeper made an excellent stop with both Aitken and Smart on the attack. Aitken then put a 40 yard screamer just over the bar. TGLFC then extended their lead as the Ludlow defence appeared to go missing and Smart took full advantage running on to the ball and slotting it past the keeper. 0-2.  The second half saw some good saves from both keepers as Ludlow pressed forward and looked well capable of getting back into the game. Jade Hill grew in influence for the visitors and her best attack saw her skip he challenge of three defenders before shooting just wide. Ludlow then saw Nat Edwards save their chance of the game, holding on to a well struck effort. Good work by Hill then saw Ami Crump score her third goal of the season in her only her second start of 2007/8. Chrissy Price then looked certain to score for Ludlow but Edwards made a superb stop to keep her out. Charlotte Redden came off the bench to make her presence felt with several impressive runs through the defence, her best beat 3 defenders before making space for her shot which skimmed the crossbar and went over.

Final Score - Ludlow 0 - 3 TGLFC

Ludlow Player of the Match - Caroline George
TGLFC Player of the Match - Claire Riekstins

Telford visited the s.b.s stadium for the second time this season ,the last time they went away with a ten goal haul, Ludlow were reminded of this fact during the pre match talk ,and they could then judge themselves on the outcome of the match. It was clear from the start that they were going to make Telford work hard if they wanted to get something out of the match. I can only heap praise on Ludlow for there work rate and attitude during the game. Telfords first goal came from a set piece and a through ball a minute before the break gave them there second.  The second half was similar to the first the only goal coming from a disputed challenge on the keeper going Telfords way. It wasn't all about the way we defended we also created chances ourselves and played good attacking football as well. The feeling after the game was not that we had lost the game, but had played a good side and competed with them, I haven't mentioned any individual player's names because this was most definitely a superb all round team performance. Well done Ludlow.
